Brass Bronze 430-B Ingot

Brass Bronze SAE 430-B (C.A. 86300), also known as High Strength Brass, is an alloy, as the name says, of high strength and ductility and does not present a magnetic property. It offers excellent resistance to corrosion caused by sea and sewage water and other corrosive agents.

Brass Bronze SAE 430-B general characteristics

Brass Bronze SAE 430-B is an alloy that contains manganese in its composition. The mixture results in an alloy intended primarily for applications that require high wear resistance, such as low speed heavy load bearings, gears and hydraulic cylinder parts.

Due to its resistance to corrosion in marine environments, the alloy is widely used in the manufacture of marine pumps and propellers, as well as hydraulic machinery, valves, worm gears, brackets and shafts and a range of items required to work under extreme environmental conditions.

  • Density = 7.83gm/cm3 at 20ºC
  • Electrical Conductivity = 0.0746 Mega Siemens/cm at 20ºC
  • Electrical Resistivity = 21.74 Microhm/cm at 20ºC
  • Magnectic Permeability = 1.09
  • Melting Point – Liquidus = 923ºC
  • Melting Point – Solidus = 885ºC
  • Modulus of elasticity in tension = 97900 MPa
  • Specific Gravity = 7.83
  • Specific Heat Capacity = 377.1 J/kg, ok at 293K
  • Thermal Conductivity = 35,5 W/m, ok at 20ºC

  • Tensile strength limit (kgf/mm²) = 77
  • Flow limit (kgf/mm²) = 42
  • Minimum elongation 50% – 80% = 12
  • Brinell hardness (HB) = 200
