Bronze SAE 620 Ingot

Bronze SAE 620 is an alloy of high hardness – although malleable –, strength, resistant to wear and of fine granulation. It has good machinability, solderability, resistance to corrosion in marine environment. It is an appropriate alloy for the manufacture of structural parts subject to high energy absorption.

Bronze SAE 620 general characteristics

Bronze SAE 620 has copper and tin as its basic composition, to which lead, zinc, iron and nickel are added. The addition of lead to the alloy optimizes lubricating properties, facilitates machining and reduces the coefficient of friction – a characteristic necessary to minimize friction and wear during rotation and sliding movements of wear components.

The compositions of Bronze SAE 620 (or C90300) include, usually, variations without the lead component, when the raw material is intended to manufacture parts and accessories such as potable water pipes, bearings and bushings, sealing rings, gears, piston rings, pump impellers, steam fittings, valve components, marine accessories and pump components.

Bronze SAE 620 Applications

Bronze SAE 620 is widely used in industry for its excellent corrosion and seawater resistance properties. Its high degree of hardness makes it possible to manufacture parts to work with medium loads. The alloy is especially indicated for manufacturing bushings with medium peak load and relatively low speed, as long as they are well lubricated.
