SAE 65 Bronze Ingot

Bronze SAE 65 descends from the majority combination of copper and tin, plus other metals in smaller proportions. The composition SAE 65 (or C90700) results in an alloy of excellent hardness and corrosion resistance and impact strength, in addition to great elasticity and good thermoelectric conductivity.

Bronze C90700 – SAE 65 alloys, are often used in the manufacture of gears, high resistance bushings and bearings, whose applications associate low speeds and heavy loads. The alloy is also suitable for producing items subject to high fatigue strength, such as pump impellers, piston rings, steam fittings and valve bodies. Tin bronze castings are used in components of movable bridges, turntables and other structures for fixed and expansion bearings (slow or intermittent moving) with heavy loads.

Bronze C90700 (SAE 65) is the most efficient alloy for use in the manufacture of worm gears. During the last hundred years it was the predominant alloy used in the manufacture of gears, which still stands.

The general characteristics of bronze SAE 65 demonstrate, by themselves, the applicability of the alloy in the production of items that demand good performance in terms of durability, usability, elasticity, conductivity, in addition to resistance to corrosion, impact and fatigue strength.

Parts manufactured in Bronze SAE 65 require good lubrication to operate at high loads as an essential condition for protection against wear and surficial fatigue.
