Bronze SAE 68 B is an alloy of copper and aluminum to which iron is added. This mixture results in an alloy with excellent mechanical, corrosion, impact, fatigue and wear resistance.

Bronze SAE 68 B (bronze de aluminum C95300) is the highest resistance copper-based alloy standard. Aluminum in conjunction with iron and nickel acts as a strengthener in these alloys. All aluminum bronzes can be heat treated, further increasing tensile strength.

Bronze SAE 68 B high strength combined with a certain ductility, gives this alloy the advantage of having a low coefficient of friction compared to steel. In addition, it can be heat treated.

SAE 68 B has excellent mechanical properties, supporting high loads, subjected to high pressure, working at high or low speed. It is very resistant to vibration, wear, corrosion and cavitation. It needs good lubrication.

A particularly appreciated property of Bronze SAE 68 B is its biostatic effect (property that certain elements have to inhibit the proliferation of microorganisms). This is due to the presence of copper in the alloy. This is an important factor in the manufacture of parts and components intended to operate in environments under severe physical conditions, such as, for example, submerged structures.
