Zamak 3

Zamac 3 (or Zamak 3) is an acronym with letters that correspond to the initials of the metals that compose it:

  • Z = Zinc
  • A = Aluminum
  • MA = Magnesium
  • C = Copper (or K for Kupfer – copper in German)

Zamak 3 is the designation of one of the zinc alloys in the ZAMAC family. As it is more malleable, the alloy is very suitable for applications in which dimensional tolerances are narrow and the part to be molded has curvatures, get bends or rivets. Zamak 3 produces an excellent finish in painting, plating and processes.

Fundição Magma produces Zamac 3 (or Zamak 3) alloys and commercializes them in the Brazilian and international markets, serving customers from the most different kinds of industrial sectors with a quality product, in accordance with what the technical standards determine, on time and with irreparable after-sales support service.

Zamak 3 properties

Zamac 3 (or Zamak 3) has the best combination of mechanical strength, castability, long-term dimensional stability, ease of finishing and cost. It has high tensile and impact strength, in addition to excellent moldability and ductility.

The zinc alloy is the most present in the production processes. More than 70% of all zinc production processes in North America are made with Zamac 3 (or Zamak 3), making the alloy the first choice for the pressure casting process.
